Renovation Blog
4 November - Pigging out
We have three days to butcher two wild boar and one pig. Great fun, and nice to have a break from renovations. It's still hard work
though, but we end up with plenty of sausages, salami, bacon, hams and fresh meat to last us another year I hope. |
9 November - Clearing, mending, sorting
Suddenly it feels like we don't have long until Christmas, and many of our rooms are currently unusable. I start the massive process
of clearing out and making them habitable. Many floorboards are up or missing and some ceilings and walls are holed... |
14 November - It's been a long time coming
At last we rip out the old bathroom left by the previous owners, to restore this to a bedroom. It has lead pipework so must have been
there for at least 50 years, and why would anyone have put that thing in the middle of the room? |
19 November - Pretty in pink?
Finally a chance to rip out another of the previous owner's unbelievable attempts at styling in this pink monstrosity. This may
have been just the ticket in 1963, but tastes change. All grist to the renovator's mill. |
21 November - Reprieve
The council has selected a much better site a couple of miles away for the gypsies, so everyone is very relieved.
26 November - Still clearing
Ripping through various rooms now and I've even started to get some wallpaper up. Maybe we'll be ready for the invasion at Christmas after all. |
